How We Keep Your Teeth Clean

During your oral hygiene appointment at Carrington Dental Centre, we will take x-rays, assess the teeth and gums and gently remove the harmful deposits that accumulate on your teeth that can contribute to gum and other dental diseases.

If gum disease is detected, our dental hygienists use specific methods to stop the disease progression, and at times even eradicate the disease.

At Home Care

Our hygienists will also provide you with easy-to-understand advice and information about at-home oral health care, so that you can keep your teeth healthy and prevent oral disease between appointments. Prevention and education are key roles of the dental hygienist.

Gum Treatments

Periowave Photodisinfection

This tool is used to treat moderate to advanced gum disease by using a light and dye to kill bacteria.

Scaling and Root Planing

Scaling is removing the calculus or tartar build-up from the teeth above the gum line.

Root planing is removing the calculus or tartar build up on the roots of the teeth below the gum line.

Both of these procedures are required in the treatment of gum disease and in the regular maintenance of healthy teeth, gums and supporting bone.
