Tooth Pain

How do I determine what is causing pain in one of my teeth?

The best way to diagnose a crack in the tooth is to bite on a Q-tip on different areas of your tooth. If one area causes immense pain, you may have a crack in your tooth.

If there is a deep filling in the tooth that hurts, it is possible that you have an infected tooth. Any teeth with deep fillings have a 50% chance of infection.

It is important to make sure that you have your gums checked very closely. In some cases, a simple deep cleaning may solve your pain. The only other possible problem may be muscular related, possibly TMJ. A root canal specialist or an oral surgeon may be required for further opinions.
